Swarnim Waglé, Senior Team Leader for Strategy, Policy and Partnerships (SPP) at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific
Swarnim Wagle is Senior Team Leader for Strategy, Policy and Partnerships (SPP) at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific covering 36 countries. Between 2014 and 2018, he served the National Planning Commission (NPC) of the Government of Nepal as Member, and then as Head (Vice-Chair), for three years. Swarnim has worked as an international development professional for more than 20 years, including as Senior Economist at The World Bank in Washington, DC and UNDP offices in Hanoi, Colombo and New York. He co-authored the 2013 Global Human Development Report titled “The Rise of the South.” He chairs the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) in Kathmandu and has advised several non-profit institutions and forums across South Asia. Swarnim holds a PhD in economics from the Australian National University, an MPA/ID from Harvard and a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics.
