Jakkie Cilliers, Founder and former Executive Director of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS)
Jakkie Cilliers is the founder and former Executive Director of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS). He also serves as chair of the ISS Board of Trustees and head of the institute's African Futures and Innovation Programme. His 2017 best-seller, Fate of the Nation, addresses South Africa’s future from political, economic, and social perspectives. His two most recent books, Africa First Igniting a Growth Revolution (March 2020) and the future of Africa: Challenges and Opportunities (April 2021), take a rigorous look at the continent. He has a B. Mil (B.A.) from the University of Stellenbosch and a Hons. B.A., M.A. (cum laude), and DLitt et Phil from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
